This antique Fereghan Sarouk is extremely colorful. Using a characteristic cherry red dye of a Sarouk, this carpet weaves a complicated medallion pattern, almost completely obscuring the field beneath a tangle of red vines curling out of budding floral patterns. The Sarouk style is often what some Americans imagine when they think of Persian carpets. The red border is breathtakingly lustrous, showing the richness and age of the antique.
