Description
This Antique Serapi carpet is muted in tone by its scale and design. The central medallion does this carpet well by taking up so much space and establishing this carpet’s intentions: floral designs in muted colors locked within steady geometric weaving. The red draws the eye of the viewer, but it is the black of the field which highlights the specificity of the floral vines and the corner niches in tan which simultaneously allow the carpet space to breath and an area to express its mastery of shape and color.
